Welcome to Dirty Girl Motor Racing!

Racing [as in: go faster... sufficiently unambiguous?]

So... if you are looking for naked girly pictures, I'm sorry to disappoint; there are beautiful women, not much bare skin but lots of leather. If you are a motorcyclist or motor racing enthusiast, do please read on.

What you'll find in this website

Action, adventure, and really wild things...

Well, if your idea of adventure is motorcycle touring, and your idea of action is motorcycle racing, you're in the right place, 'cause that's what you will find here. Trackday and bike build pictures can be found in my 'Photos' section, and links to pictures of past seasons racing in my Past Racing Seasons page. My Articles section is growing to include a wide range of articles from several contributors. The Links page features resources for women riders, links to women racers pages, and resources for trackday riders and vintage racing enthusiasts too.

What's new in the DirtyGirl website...

Vintage Bikes for SALE!

1989 ZXR 250 Kawasaki - $3,725.00 CDN

This modern looking vintage Japanese street bike has an inline 4 cylinder 4 stroke engine with a 19,000 rpm redline. Tires, steering head bearings and wheel bearings are all new, forks have been rechromed and are in excellent condition, rear suspension is original single shock. Carburetors and brakes are cleaned and rebuilt. Gas-tank has non-matching paint, but otherwise bike is in good cosmetic condition. Bike is currently in street trim and would be inexpensive to insure, or it would make an excellent vintage class (eligible for VRRA P4-F3 class) racebike with minimal preparation, or a great trackday gem. Bike shares oil filter with EX500/EN500, so maintenance parts are easily obtained for this rare bike.

1983 NS 250 F Honda - $2,450.00 CDN

An NSR400 look-alike, this uncommon Honda is a v-twin liquid cooled two stroke street bike from the Japanese market. This bike has been converted for vintage racing, and was successfully campaigned in the VRRA's P4F3 class from 2005 to 2009 without a single DNF! Bike runs very reliably, with many failure-prone parts removed from the system (oil injector, fuel pump, all unnecessary street equipment) - it runs on 2-stroke gas-oil premix. This Honda has a very easy kick-start, with a total-loss battery to run the tachometer, it's an easy vintage bike to keep going throughout a weekend of racing, and is fully safetywired and ready to go, with an eligibility number registered with the VRRA.

See photos at: http://www.dirtygirlmotorracing.com/articles/NS250F.html

Both bikes are located in the St.Catharines Ontario Canada area, and any shipping of bikes will have to be arranged by the buyer.

The Dirty Girl Motor Racing name... a protest (or perhaps just rebellion?) against societies expectations about class, gender and dirt. Growing up I discovered that a woman, to be thought a lady, must remain clean. I was fortunate to grow up in privileged circumstances, but I resisted hierarchical ideas about class, and rejected gender appropriate ideas about dirt. I spent my childhood playing with insects, rats and frogs. As it turns out, my adult interests are similarly dirty and arguably unladylike. I've been motorcycling for most of my adult life, and I enjoy sharing my passion with others; I've been teaching motorcycle rider training since 1999. Motorcycling is not necessarily a dirty pastime I suppose, but I always end up getting dirty. I like touching bikes, particularly their dirty working parts, and then I get dirty hands, which I inevitably smear on my jeans or my face, ending up dirty in general. So when I was thinking up a name for this website I decided it was time to reclaim dirt for women... or for those of us (and I've met many in motorcycling) who feel that dirt shouldn't threaten our gender identities.
